Kanji Terakoya

Starting this semester, AKP’s Japanese faculty added a new Japanese language elective class — Kanji Terakoya! During the Edo Period (1603-1868), terakoya (寺子屋) were private institutions, usually Buddhist temples, that taught literacy to commoner children at a time when public education was reserved for the samurai class. At AKP, students study kanji by themselves or in a group, and do activities.

Okay guys, let’s up our kanji skills!
