Picture yourself in    kyoto in kanji

See what some AKP alumni have to say about their experience in Kyoto:

"I definitely surpassed my expectations when it comes to my Japanese skills.  Although before coming to Kyoto I studied Japanese for only a year, by the middle of the spring semester I started reading Japanese novels and newspapers without having to look up every other word in the dictionary.  Also, just like I planned, I got a chance to practice calligraphy and learn to play koto, a traditional Japanese instrument."
Ewelina Oleszek, Wellesley College, AKP 2008-09

"I grew so much personally and every day I was forced to step beyond my comfort zone and venture outward in order to talk to my host family or get around town.  These things imbued me with a sense of awe that I was able to navigate through my study abroad experience so smoothly."
Courtney Sato, Wellesley College, AKP 2007-08

"I recommend joining a club or circle at Doshisha.  I joined an English interest circle and a soccer team.  Playing with the team was an especially valuable experience not only because I got to play competitive soccer, but also because I made Japanese friends my own age who shared my interests.  It added a completely different dimension to my AKP experience."
Jason Shon, Whitman College, AKP 2007-08

Prefectural Coordinator for International Relations
